Laaga Chunri Mein Daag"...Review
Let’s start the day with C L Rawal’s 1963 drama film *”Dil Hi To Hai”* written by C L Rawal and directed by C L Rawal and P L Santoshi.
The film starred Raj Kapoor and Nutan. They were supported by Agha, Nazir Hussain, Padmini Priyadarshini, Manorama, Shivraj Leela Chitnis and Pran.
The original censor's certificate states that the film is in Urdu.
The film had an interesting storyline:
In a mansion, filled with guests and decorated for a wedding, two men struggle over the possession of a revolver. A shot rings out and to the horror of the assembled throng, a lady falls, dying. She is the mother of one of the protagonists and her deathbed confession is the key that unravels the complicated events that led up to this tragic climax - a tale that involves switched identities, multiple disguises, an arranged marriage, attempted murder, heartless cruelty, rapacious greed and (for good measure) a dancing girl whose mother (were she around) would have good reason to suspect her condition.
This movie also had many memorable song picturised on Raj Kapoor. This time the singer was not Mukesh, but Manna Dey. And this song is just as wonderful, if not more. This song has to be among the most memorable semi classical songs in the history of Bollywood movies. Sahir had written the lyrics and Roshan was the music director.
One of Manna Dey’s best and memorable song.
*"Laaga Chunri Mein Daag"* lyrics by Sahir Ludhianvi, composed by Roshan and sung by Manna Dey 🎤🎵🎶🎧
