*"O Saathi Chal"...Song of the Day
Let’s start Sunday with one of my favourite, G P Sippy’s 1972 comedy drama film *”Seeta Aur Geeta”* directed by Ramesh Sippy.
The film starred Dharmendra, Hema Malini, Sanjeev Kumar and Hema Malini. They were supported by Manorama , Roopesh Kumar, Satyen Kappu, Pratima Devi, Honey Irani, Asrani and Kamal Kapoor.
Hema Malini won the Filmfare best actress award for the film.
The film was remade in Tamil as Vani Rani (1974) and in Telugu as Ganga Manga (1973), both starring Vanisri.
Hema Malini's co stars Sanjeev Kumar and Dharmendra were both her admirers those days.
First film to release at Gaiety Galaxy theater in Mumbai.
At the success party of the film producer GP Sippy told his son director Ramesh Sippy that they should make an action film with Dharmendra and Hema Malini and ultimately the first root of classic Sholay. was developed as they both were paired opposite each other in Sippy's next film Sholay.
Dialogues between Hema and Sanjeev as she teaches Sanjeev how to roller skate, was used in the song "Concrete Gang" by Billy Bushkiller from the album " Brown Dal".
Hawa Ke Saath Saath Ghata Ke Sang Sang O Saathi Chal. The tune of a portion of the song's mukhda was reused by J.V. Raghavulu in the mukhda of the Telugu film song "Banthulaata" ("Bhayam Bhayam", 1986)
Today’s song is one of the finest songs of yesteryears. The song is sung by Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhonsle. It is picturised on Sanjeev Kumar and Hema Malini. Anand Bakshi is the lyricist and R D Burman is the music director.
Reading the above list of creme de la creme of the who is who of the Hindi film industry at that time gives us an idea of what a rage this song must have been. I who lived through that age can vouch for the fact that this song was sheer magic, in addition to the sheer melodious music.
*"O Saathi Chal" * lyrics by Anand Bakshi, composed by R D Burman and sung by Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhosle 🎤🎵🎶🎧
राम नौमी की शुभकमाइये 🙏🏻🌟
