Sa Re Ga Ma Pa... Song Review

Let’s start the day with me wishing my darling wife *”Happy Wali Anniversary”* and dedicating this song, which signifies how we learned to live and sing the tunes, bring love and happiness in our married life with the melody and rhythm and sur provided by God. 

Nothing is complete in life without the love and support of loved ones, family and friends old and new. We wish thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for being part of our journey, dreams and memories and making it more enjoyable, and happy and fun. 

Today’s song is from from Subodh Mukherjee’s 1970 romantic drama film *”Abhinetri”* directed by Abhinetri. 

The film starred Shashi Kapoor and Hema Malini. They were supported by Nirupa Roy, Nazir Hussain, Bella Bose, Mac Mohan and Asit Sen. 

Abhinetri was one of the earlier movies of Hema Malini. Here she was paired up with Shashi Kapoor.

Hema in one if her interview taken after demise of Shashi Kapoor in 2017 said that wished she done more films with Shashi as he was class apart, he knows how to treat women. He was the most charming.

The movie had several nice songs which were very popular, especially with kids like me.

Today’s song is the most popular song from this movie. I had forgotten all about this song. It was nice to listen to this song again after more than three decades.

The picturisation is quite colourful, and Hema Malini in her orange dress looks stunning. Shashi Kapoor, looks rather lighterweight in comparison and is seen struggling while trying to lift her, much to my amusement. It was only later that moviemakers paired her up with Dharmendra and they became the hottest pair of the decade of 1970s.

The Soundtrack of the film was a hit.

This song is sung by Lata and Kishore Kumar. Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist whereas Laxminkant Pyarelal composed the music.

The Sinhala version of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Ma Ga Re Sa" - Lata Mangeshkar & Kishore Kumar (Abhinetri, 1970) was "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa" - H. R. Jothipala & Angeline Gunathilake (Onna Mamme Kella Panapi, 1976).
