Ek Hasina Do Diwaane”. .. Song Review

Let’s start the day and week with
Kantibhai Zaveri’s 1972 romantic film *”Ek Hasina Do Diwane”* story, screenplay and directed y S M Abbas.

The film starred Jeetendra, Babita and Vinod Khanna. They were supported by Nirupa Roy, Johnny Walker, Manmohan Krishnan and Om Prakash.

Synopsis:
Nainital-based, orthodox and traditional, Amar, obtains a degree in Engineering, and re-locates to Bombay for employment. After doing so, he decides to assist his friend, Prakash, woo a wealthy and educated woman, Neeta, but ends up falling in love and marrying her himself much to the chagrin of her father. Shortly after the marriage, he takes her to visit his widowed-schoolteacher mother, but she has gone on an outing. They return back, and shortly thereafter arguments ensue, which escalate to such an extent that Amar assaults her, compelling her to return to her parents' home. When she insists on a divorce - Amar refuses until and unless she lives with him for 15 days in order to create a false scenario of a happy marriage for his mother.

Here is a song that can be called an iconic song. I have been listening to this song for decades and liking it too, but all this while I was totally in the dark about the creators of this song or the film.

I got to know, this song is from a 1972 movie called “Ek Hasina Do Diwaane”. Lata and Mukesh are the singers. This song was written by a lyricist called Qafil Azar. Kalyanji Anandji were the music directors.

This song was picturised on Jeetendra and Babita.

Not much is known about this lyricist, but it must be said that this unknown lyricist called Qafil Azar will be known by future generations of music lovers thanks to this particular song.

*"Do Qadam Tum Bhi Chalo"* lyrics by Kafeel Azar, composed by Kalyanji Anandji and sung by Mukesh and Lata Mangeshkar 🎤🎶🎵🎧
