Let’s start the day and week with Pandit Madhur and Bachubhai Mistry’s 1963 musical fantasy drama film *”Parasmani”* directed by Babubhai Mistry.

The film starred Mahipal and Geetanjali. They were supported by Nalini Chonkar, Maruti Rao, Jeevan Kala and Aruna Irani.

The film was shot partly in Black and White and partly in colour.

Babubhai Mistri, who is known as the pioneer of cinematic effects.

The film was dubbed into Tamil with the title Maayamani and was released in 1964.

This film is the first independent film together of the musical duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal. Before this, they have worked under many musicians separately as well as together. This film also marks the beginning of the long relationship among them, Lata Mangeshkar and Mohammed Rafi.

I have listened to today’s song in the past, but it is only some time that I have realised that this song too is from “Parasmani”. What a joyous song ! Lata’s voice sound at its most joyous in this song. And this was definitely not an easy song to sing.

The lyrics by Farooque Qaiser are just wonderful.

This song is picturised on Geetanjali. Mahipal is also visible in the picturisation.

This song is a masterpiece. In fact, I suppose the same can be said about most songs from this movie.

*"Mere Dil Mein Halki Si"* lyrics by Farooque Qaiser, composed by Shanker Jaikishan and sung by Lata Mangeshkar 🎤🎵🎶🎧
