”Tere Mere Sapne.. Film Song Review
Let’s start the day by wishing each other *”Shubh Chotti Diwali”* with one of my favourite, Vijay Anand’s 1971 film *”Tere Mere Sapne”* directed by Vijay Anand.
The film starred Dev Anand and Mumtaz. They were supported by Vijay Anand, Mahesh Kaul, Agha, Tabassum, Jayshree T, Leela Mishra and Premnath. Special Appearance by Hema Malini.
Remake of The Citadel.
The first film to be produced by Vijay Anand.
Vijay Anand made the film on his medical experience.
This film was a major break for Mumtaz as heroine and she was paired with Dev Anand for the first time. This film was Vijay Anand's first film as producer.
Dev Anand signed Mumtaz for 2 films in 1971, Tere Mere Sapne & Hare Rama Hare Krishna. Ironically Mumtaz was eclipsed in both - by Hema playing a glam film star in a special appearance in Tere Mere Sapne and Zeenat playing the iconic drug addict sister in Hare Rama.
Perhaps the best movie from Vijay Anand. Sadly, it was not a success. But still remembered for it songs.
It's said that Sanjeev Kumar was first considered for the role which Vijay Anand eventually played to cut down on the expanding budget.
Sharmila Tagore was offered the film but declined due to her pregnancy with Saif Ali Khan.
Here is one of the nice songs from this movie. Inclusion of this song calls for introducing a new tag viz “bicycle” song. Actually in this song the girl rides on the front bar of a bicycle, which to my mind is the most romantic use of a bicycle that Bollywood movie makers have devised. Girl riding on the pillion of a motorbike, which was later devised in “Bobby” comes a distant second.
*”Ae maine kasam li.....”*
