Song of the Day
Let’s start the day and week with one of my favourite, L B Lachmana & L B Thakur’s 1962 suparhit film *”Asli Naqli”* directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee.
The film starred Dev Anand and Sadhna. They were supported by Anwar Hussain, Leela Chitnis, Mukri, Keshto Mukherjee and Moti Lal.
After Anari & Mem Didi, Filmaker Hrishikesh Mukherjee Made Asli Naqli.
There is a scene in which Nazir Hussain praises the workmanship of an artifact to Dev Anand when the latter is disturbed. The same scene would be repeated by Hrishikesh Mukherjee in the film Namak Haram (1973) between Om Shivpuri and Amitabh Bachchan.
This is a “bus” song where Dev Anand is the bus driver and Sadhana is the only passenger. The bus goes in a deserted place and very conveniently conks off.
The duo who had burst into a duet song, as required in a Bollywood movie sing the rest of the song among scenic places surrounded by greenery all round ( though it all looks black, considering that it is a black and white movie). Dev Anand was still young enough to actually suit his youthful roles. Sadhana looks incredibly cute and pretty in this song.
The song itself is a gem. Hasrat Jaipuri had written the song and Shankar Jaikishan had composed the music. Rafi and Lata sound divine.
Everything about this song, be it audio or the picturisation, is nearly perfect. A very nice and evergreen song indeed.
This song "Tujhe jeevan ki dori se" is also used in the movie Guddi in a dream sequence song featuring Dharmendra.
*"Tujhe Jeevan Ki Dor Se"* lyrics by Hasrat Jaipuri, composed by Shanker Jaikishan and sung by Mohammed Rafi & Lata Mangeshkar 🎤🎵🎶🎧
