Stunning Green Birdflowers
Happy afternoon
In the northern half of Western Australia, you will find these stunning Green Birdflowers or ‘Crotalaria cunninghamii’ widely distributed from the coast to the deserts.
The species is a short-lived, small Australian native shrub with clusters of large chartreuse-green flowers looking like birds feeding on the central stem. The plants generally bloom from January to April, or even longer in its natural habitat, followed by velvety, club-shaped seed pods that rattle when shaken.
