Opportunities or Disasters..?

Image
Dear Friends Happy evening There was once a farmer in ancient China who owned a horse. “You are so lucky!” his neighbours told him, “to have a horse to pull the cart for you.”  “Maybe,” the farmer replied. One day he didn’t latch the gate properly and the horse ran off. “Oh no! This is terrible news!” his neighbours cried. “Such terrible misfortune!”  “Maybe,” the farmer replied. A few days later the horse returned, bringing with it six wild horses. “How fantastic! You are so lucky,” his neighbours told him. “Now you are rich!”  “Maybe,” the farmer replied. The following week the farmer’s son was breaking-in one of the wild horses when it kicked out and broke his leg. “Oh no!” the neighbours cried, “such bad luck, all over again!”  “Maybe,” the farmer replied. The next day soldiers came and took away all the young men to fight in the war. The farmer’s son was left behind. “You are so lucky!” his neighbours cried.  “Maybe,” the farmer replied. Wheneve...

Dr Devi Shetty's Message

Image
Dear friends Happy sunday Evening In the last few years, I have lost at least 8 to 9 people known to me personally, and a few celebrities too, who were in their 40s who died because of doing too much to be "fit". Unfortunately they only looked fit, six packs and all. Today Puneeth Rajkumar gets added to this list. In anything in life, MODERATION is the mantra. Any extreme of zero or 100 is not correct. A moderate amount of exercise, just about 20mins, eating everything, no detoxification or keto moto diets, just eat what your ancestors have been eating, the local and seasonal food in your hometown, not kale, kiwi or olive oil..., but in small quantities, sleeping a full 7 hours, respecting your body by not feeding it steroids, performance enhancement drugs are all that you need to do. Just eat all that you ate growing up, in small quantities, exercise for 20mins to 30mins...just a good walk should do perfectly and stop all supplements....if you drink, limit it to ...

Love has many faces

Image
Dear Friends Wishing you a blissful Night Love has many faces Love can never be exclusive. The sun does not choose to shine on some flowers in the garden and not others. Love is inclusive and has many faces – caring, listening, sharing from the heart, just accepting someone for what they are right now, are all acts of love, as long as you seek nothing in return. It all starts with acceptance of yourself – you’re just fine as you are right now, warts and all. It’s not that you will stay that way for ever – but you might, if you don’t accept. The secret key to the greatest door called love is acceptance. First your self, then others (especially the ones you currently resist) and eventually …all. Courtesy : Thought for today. Org. Never Underestimate Your Teachers

Image
Dear friends Happy Evening Once, 4 students were playing cards till late night and could not study for the test which was scheduled for the next day.    In the morning they thought of a plan. They made themselves look dirty with grease and dirt. They then went up to the Dean and said that they had gone out to a wedding last night and on their return the tyre of their car burst and they had to push the car all the way back and that they were in no condition to appear for the test.    The Dean said they could have the re-test after 3 days. They thanked him and said they would be ready by that time.    On the third day they appeared before the Dean. The Dean said that as this was a _Special Condition Test_, all four were required to sit in separate classrooms for the test. They all agreed as they had prepared well in the last 3 days. The Test consisted of only 2 questions with a total of 100 Marks.    The questions were : Q.1. Which tyre ...

Attitude is Everything

Image
Dear Friends Happy Evening When you extend pure love to everyone with selfless motivation that is an attitude of kindness. When you send good wishes and pure feelings to those who are in deep sorrow, that is an attitude of mercy. When you see the virtues rather than the weaknesses in people that is an attitude of compassion. When you bless and uplift someone even as they defame you, that is an attitude of forgiveness. When you tolerate a situation and take responsibility as well as give cooperation even when not appreciated, that is an attitude of humility and self-respect. Every second, every moment and every breath of your life is nurtured by attitude. https://www.thoughtfortoday.org.uk/ Kind Regards

Stress Buster

Image
Dear Friends Happy Afternoon We hug others when we’re excited, happy, sad, or trying to comfort. Hugging, it seems, is universally comforting. It makes us feel good. And it turns out that hugging is proven to make us healthier and happier. Hugs reduce stress by showing your support. When a friend or family member is dealing with something painful or unpleasant in their lives, give them a hug. Giving another person support through touch can reduce the stress of the person being comforted. It can even reduce the stress of the person doing the comforting in giving and receiving.  Hugs may protect you against illness. The stress-reducing effects of hugging might also work to keep you healthier. Hugs may boost your heart health. A loving , kind, affectionate relationship may be good for you heart health. Hugs can make you happier Oxytocin is a chemical in our bodies that scientists sometimes call the “cuddle hormone.” This is because its levels rise when we hug, touch, a gen...

Do you have any Complaints?

Image
Dear Friends Happy New Week If today we want to complain about our plate of food not being enough or not to your liking, walk the streets and see how many are scratching in a bin just to find a little bit to put in their stomach. If today we want to complain about our mattress not being to our liking, walk the streets and see how many sleep on cardboard or newspapers. If today we want to complain about a headache, walk through the closest hospital and see how many are fighting for the next breath or their lives. If today we want to complain and blame our parents’ faults for what and who we are, visit an orphanage and meet many that are crying to have parents. If today we want to complain about the size of our house, walk around town and see how many do not have four walls to surround them. If today we complain about life, walk through a cemetery and see how many have lost theirs. There are so many that would love to have what we complain about, and will be thankful for. Eve...

Daughters are Very Special

Image
Dear Friends Happy weekend On the first day of their marriage, wife and husband agreed not to open the door for ANY visitor!  That same day, the husband’s parents  came to see them, and knocked on the door. Husband and the wife looked at each other... the husband wanted to open the door, but since they had an agreement, he did not, so his parents left.  After a while, the same day, the wife’s parents came visiting. Wife and husband looked at each other, and even though they had an agreement, the wife with tears on her eyes whispered:- "I can’t do this to my parents", and she opened the door!  Husband did not say anything. Years passed and they had 2 boys. Afterwards, they had a third child which was a girl. The father planned a very big and lavish party for the new born baby girl, and he invited everyone over.  Later that night, his wife asked him what was the reason for such a big celebration for this baby, while we did not do so for the brothers! Choose Wisely

Image
Dear Friends Happy Morning I once asked a very successful woman to share her secret with me. She smiled and said to me.. "I started succeeding when I started leaving small fights for small fighters.  I stopped fighting those who gossiped about me... I stopped fighting with my in laws... I stopped fighting for attention... I stopped fighting to meet peoples expectation of me... I stopped fighting for my rights with inconsiderate people.. I stopped fighting to please everyone... I stopped fighting to prove they were wrong about me.... I left such fights for those who have nothing else to fight... And I started fighting for  my vision,  my dreams,  my ideas and  my destiny. The day I gave up on small fights is the day I started becoming successful & so much more content." Some fights are not worth your time..... Choose what you fight for wisely. Kind Regards

A Moral Lesson

Image
Dear Friends Happy Friday Once, a Junior School teacher asked her students to bring some tomatoes in a plastic bag to school.  Each tomato will be given a name of the person whom that child hates.  Like this, the number of tomatoes will be equal to the number of persons they hate.  On a decided day, the children brought their tomatoes well addressed.  Some had two, some had three and some had even five tomatoes .  Teacher said they have to carry tomatoes with them everywhere they go for a week.  As the days passed the children started to complain about the spoiled smell of tomatoes .  Students who had many tomatoes complained it was very heavy to carry. Teacher asked, "How did you feel this one week?"  Children complained of smell & heavy weight of the tomatoes . Teacher said, "This is very similar to what you carry in your heart when you don't like some people.  Hatred makes heart unhealthy and you carry that hatred everywher...

Religion vs Spirituality

Image
Dear friends Happy n Pleasant Wednesday Evening Beautifully explained Difference between religion and spirituality A learned man was once asked to explain the difference between Religion and Spirituality. His response was profound: ▪ Religion is not just one, there are many. ▪ Spirituality is one. ▪ Religion is for those who sleep. ▪ Spirituality is for those who are awake. ▪ Religion is for those who need someone to tell them what to do and want to be guided. ▪ Spirituality is for those who pay attention to their inner voice. ▪ Religion has a set of dogmatic rules. ▪ Spirituality invites us to reason about everything, to question everything. ▪ Religion threatens and frightens. ▪ Spirituality gives inner peace. ▪ Religion speaks of sin and guilt. ▪ Spirituality says, "learn from an error".   ▪ Religion represses everything which is false. ▪ Spirituality transcends everything, it brings you closer to your truth! ▪ Religion speaks of a God; It is not God. ▪ Spiritua...

Keep me in Your Prayers🙏

Image
Dear Friends Happy Evening *KEEP ME IN YOUR PRAYERS* Since we always say "Keep me in your prayers" to each other, I thought of sharing a small story about the actual meaning of these 5 words.  A voyaging ship was wrecked during a storm at sea and only two of the men on it were able to swim to a small, desert-like island. The two survivors, not knowing what else to do, agreed that they had no other recourse but to pray to God. However, to find out whose prayer was more effective, they agreed to divide the territory between them and stay on opposite sides of the island. The first thing they prayed for was food. The next morning, the first man saw a fruit-bearing tree on his side of the land, and he was able to eat its fruit. The other man's parcel of land remained barren. After a week, the first man was lonely and he decided to pray for a wife. The next day, there was a woman who swam to his side of the land. On the other side of the island, there was nothing. S...

Practice Kindness

Image
Dear Friends Happy Sunday   Practice the philosophy of kindness There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy,"  Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness."  Says Dalai Lama   "The simplest acts of kindness are far more powerful than a thousand heads bowing in prayer." -- Mahatma Gandhi     Why? Practicing random acts of kindness, we create neural pathways that enhances  feelings   of well-being and the natural flow of feel-good endorphins and  mood elevating neurotransmitters.   Humans who practiced kindness reaped the longevity benefits.  It is observed that kind hearted   humans die at their ripe old age.   Kindness is contagious. W hen we perform an act of kindness, encourages  others to perform similar acts of kindness.   There is a relationship between kindness and happiness.  Happiness is increased when acts o...

Higginbotham’s

Image
Dear Friends Happy Sunday The stowaway who gave India it’s oldest bookstore: Over 180 years ago a young Englishman, Abel Joshua Higginbotham boarded a ship. When discovered by the captain, he was thrown out at the port of the then Madras Presidency.  Luckily for him, being a librarian, he found employment as a store manager of Wesleyan Book Shop. The store catered to local theologians and largely sold religious works. Abel was a sincere and dedicated worker, but the mission was losing its profits and in 1844, when they decided to shut the store, they offered Higginbotham the option of buying out the stock. Higginbotham’s mother died when he was 12 and he was in the care of missionaries of the Church of Scotland. His obit, written soon after his death in 1891, states that he had two careers before he went on to become the owner of the bookstore.  One was that of a seaman, an occupation he took up after he completed school. The vagaries of the sea, and the rough life...

Harbhajan's... Made With Love

Image
Dear Friends Meet Harbhajan Kaur She has proved that age is just a number   Food entrepreneur Harbhajan Kaur is living proof of the well-worn  adage that age is, after all, just a number.  At 94, when most people would struggle to be physically independent,  Kaur has managed to achieve financial independence as well,  while being hands-on at work. Even more heartening is that Kaur had embarked on her  entrepreneurial journey when in her late eighties. “I told Raveena that I wanted to earn some money of own,”  Kaur said, recalling a conversation with her daughter (Raveena Suri)  in 2016. Harbhajan was on the threshold of 90 at that point, but unwilling  to call it a day. A desire to create something she could call her own  and also financially rewarding still burned deep within her. Fortunately for Kaur, Raveena did not just patiently hear her  out but also encouraged her to pursue her dream. “She asked me to...
