Veteran actor Achyut Potdar,🙏

Veteran actor Achyut Potdar, known for his memorable roles in Hindi and Marathi films and television, passed away on August 18, 2025, at the age of 91. He breathed his last at Jupiter Hospital in Thane, where he had been admitted due to health complications. The cause of death has not yet been disclosed. His final rites are scheduled for August 19 in Thane.

Potdar's passing marks a significant loss for the Indian entertainment industry. With a career spanning decades, he appeared in acclaimed films such as 3 Idiots, Ardh Satya, Yeh Dillagi, and Aakrosh, as well as popular TV shows like Wagle Ki Duniya, Majha Hoshil Na, Mrs. Tendulkar, and Bharat Ki Khoj. Leading Marathi TV channels confirmed his demise and paid tribute on social media.

Interestingly, Potdar entered the film industry at the age of 44 with no formal acting training. A graduate, he first worked as a professor in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, before joining the Indian Army through the Emergency Commission. He retired as a Captain in 1967, later serving 25 years with Indian Oil Corporation, where he was deeply involved in cultural activities and theatre.

His passion for performance led to a late but impactful start in films, debuting with Aakrosh in 1980. Potdar’s dedication, versatility, and quiet brilliance left a lasting impression on Indian cinema and television.
