Farz”* Review

Let’s start the day with Sunderlal Nahata Doondi’s 1967 spy thriller *”Farz”* cinematography & directed by Ravikant Nagaich. 

The film starred Jeetendra & Babita. They were supported by Sajjan, Agha, Kanchana, Nagesh, Rajanala Kaleswara Rao, Mohan Choti, Mukri, David and Aruna Irani. 

The film is a remake of the Telugu film Gudachari 116 (1966).

It had two sequels, Keemat (1973) starring Dharmendra and Raksha (1982) starring Jeetendra again. 

Farz has lot of similarities with the Bond film Dr. No, specially the initial plot element of a fellow agent's death investigation and the climax involving the main villain.

The film was a turning point for Jeetendra who became famous and was called Jumping Jack after the film.

“Farz” was one of the first such Jeetendra movie employing the Shammi kapoor type story, hero with a side kick and dancing and romancing the heroine wala formula successfully. In this movie, Jeetendra, playing agent 116 is seen singing and dancing throughout the movie,clad in all white, but with black shoes. It would be another 15 years or so before Jeetendra would be seen wearing matching white colour shoes to go with his all white clothes.

Wait a minute ! It does not take 15 years for the shoes to go white. It takes just 2 minutes and 40 seconds into this song and the shoes miraculously turn white in this song itself.

Today’s song is sung beautifully by Rafi and Lata Suman Kalyanpur. Yes, the fabulous female voice belongs to Suman Kalyanpur
