Song Review

Let’s start the day with K. Amarnath’s 1964 romantic drama film *”Ishaara”* directed by K. Amarnath. 

The film starred Joy Mukherjee and Vyjayantimala. They were supported by Jayant, Shammi, Murad, Birbal, Agha and Pran. 

While looking for songs, or rather while stumbling upon songs, I often realise how little I know about old movies and their songs.

For instance, what do I know about this movie called “Ishaaraa” (1964) ? Nothing much really. Yet, for a movie that few people know about, this movie has some wonderful songs in it. The songs incidentally are for some reason as obscure as the movie itself.

This movie is set on the backdrp of Delhi and the songs give us a liberal view of the landmarks of Delhi.

This song is a fantastic song. It shows Joy Mukherji riding a bicycle and singing away joyously, with the landmarks of Delhi visible in the background.

Mukesh has sung his song with his usual Midas touch. Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist and Kalyanji Anandji have composed the music.

This song is a fantastic song. It is a gem that lies forgotten but which deserved to be much better known.

The song "Naa jaane Ek Nigah Mein" was inspired from the film Taxi Chor's song " Vada Hain Kya ". The original source was the song "Chal Mere Dil" from Ishaara.

Dil To Hai Dil”

Let’s start the day with Prakash Mehra’s 1978 crime action drama  film *”Muqaddar Ka Sikandar”* directed by Prakash Mehra.  The film starred Amitabh Bachchan, Vinod Khanna, Rakhee and Rekha. They were supported by Ranjeet, Nirupa Roy, Kadar Khan, Shreeram Lagoo, Ram Sethi, Goga Kapoor, Sulochana and Amjad Khan.  This was Amitabh Bachchan and Vinod Khanna's final movie together, ending one of the greatest duos in Bollywood. Before Vinod Khanna's passing, he worked with Bachchan's son Abhishek in Players in 2012. The film's set collapse right after they finished shooting. Hearing the loud thud,the cast came all out from their makeup room too see what happened. It was so serious that had any actor been present,they would have not survived. The only film of Prakash Mehra and Amitabh in which Amitabh dies in the end.
