Song of The Day

Let’s start Sunday with one of my favourite, B.R Panthulu’s 1962 romantic comedy film *”Dil Tera Diwana“* directed by B.R Panthulu.

The film starred Shammi Kapoor and Mala Sinha. They were supported by Mehmood, Om Prakash, Mumtaz Begum, Subha Khote, Manmohan Krishan, Mohan Choti and Pran.

The film was a remake of the Tamil film Sabaash Meena.

The film is black and white in an era where colour films had already started making their appearance.

This film has been colourised and released in 2015.

Mehmood claimed that Shammi Kapoor got insecure of him and refused to work with him after the film released. Mehmood went on to say that Shammi Kapoor got him replaced by Rajendra Nath in the next few films.

Rafi-Shammi Kapoor songs are some of the most loved songs in Hindi films.

Today’s song is sung by Rafi and Lata and picturised on Shammi Kapoor and Mala Sinha. It is a rain song.

I have commented about the kind of energy that Rafi is able to bring to his voice while sionging for Shammi Kapoor, and this song is no exception. It is such a high watt energetic singing from Rafi that this energy could be felt by the listeners even today, after the passage of more than half a century.

Shammi Kapoor is his usual ebullient self, and Mala Sinha too keeps pace with him.

Shailendra is the lricist and music is composed by Shankar Jaikishan.

Listening to this song can cheer one up no end. This song will certainly lift one’s mood.

*"Dil Tera Deewana Hai Sanam"+ lyrics by Shailendra, composed by Shanker Jaikishan and sung by Mohammed Rafi & Lata Mangeshkar 🎤🎵🎶🎧
