Song of the Day
Let’s start the day with
Tarachand Barjatya’s 1977 superhit family drama musical film *”Dulhan Wahi Jo Piya Man Bhaye”* directed by Lekh Tandon.
The film starred Prem Kishen and Rameshwari. They were supported by Shyamlee, Iftekhar, Leela Mishra, Shashikala, Viju Khote, Jagdeep and Madan Puri.
Remake of "I'd Rather Be Rich".
Dulhan wahi jo piya man bhaaye” was not a mainstream movie. It was a movie made by Rajshree productions and as was their wont, there were no big names in this movie.
Hero was Prem Kishan (Premnath’s son), heroine was a debutant from south called Rameshwari which some people continued to confuse with Rekha even after the success of this movie . And Rameshwari took serious exception, asking who is Rekha ? Yes, Rekha was a nobody those days, and Rameshwari had become a hot name after this movie.
People who were into watching simple clean movies were bowled over by this movie in general and Rameshwari in particular
Rameshwari graduated from the institute but for 10 months did not have any work. She did not have a port folio as she could not afford one. She only had a few snaps from the institute.
Lekh Tandon had selected Bijaya Jena for the film. But then Bijaya when to meet Rajkumar Barjatya for the final approval, she wore jeans. This did not sit well with him and he declined her in favor of Rameshwari. Rajshi wanted a more traditional looking heroine.
This film had chraracter actor Madan Puri in one of his best role and perfomance, in his career. This film, after a long time, a big hit from Rajshree Productions.
The music of this movie was played by everyone, including in the cycle rickshaw which would go all over the town playing songs from this movie and making announcements about this movie playing in a local movie hall.
Today’s songs from this movie is sung by Hemlala and picturised on Rameshwari. Ravindra Jain was the lyricist as well as the music director.
*"Le Toh Aaye Ho Hame Sapno" (Sajna-O-Sajna)* lyrics and composed by Ravindra Jain and sung by Hemlata 🎤🎵🎶🎧
