Yeh Raat Phir Na Aaygi”* Review
Let’s start the day with a digitally coloured song from Brij Sadanah directed 1966 film*”Yeh Raat Phir Na Aaygi”* produced by Harbans Dharshan.
The film starred Prithviraj Kapoor, Biswajeet, Sharmila Tagore and Mumtaz. It has Suresh, Helen and Madhumati as a special appearance for the song “Huzoorewala, Jo Ho Ijazat, To Hum Yeh Sare Jahan Se Kehde.”
Enjoy this song where 2 beautiful and graceful dancers Helen and Madhumati are performing on screen.
Everyone is aware of Helen as a dancer par excellence and a lovely actress on screen, but little is known about the other dancer in this song, equally beautiful and graceful Madhumati. Born as Hutoxi Reporter in a Parsi family in Thane, Maharashtra.
I had the pleasure of meeting Madhumati ji in the recent past. She is very charming and elegant 80+ years young lady with a beautiful smile. While talking to her one could imagine how beautiful and graceful woman she must have been, when she was young, in real life and as a dancer in the movies.
One cannot miss the striking facial resemblance in this song, between these two, Helen and Madhumati both excellent dancers. Incidentally the male dancer in the song is Madhumati’s husband Manohar Deepak.
She spoke about, how on the suggestion of several of her friends and well-wishers, she started her own academy-Madhumati Academy of Acting and Dancing in Mumbai, where she started teaching dancing and acting to the new aspirants. The institute’s alumni include actors who later went on to make a big name for themselves in the industry- Akshay Kumar, Govinda, Chunkey Pandey, Sumeet Saigal, Tabu, Farha, Amrita Singh, Baba Sehgal, etc. Today her husband is no more but her academy keeps her busy and her students are like her family.
WhatsApp did not allow me to upload the song as a single post, hence posting the song in two parts as the song and dance needs to be watched full for wholesome enjoyment of the lyrics, music, singing and dancing.
*”Huzoorewala, Jo Ho Ijazat, To Hum Yeh Sare Jahan Se Kehde”* lyrics by S H Bihari and composed by O P Nayyar and sung beautifully by Asha Bhosle & Minoo Purushottam 🎤🎵🎶🎼
