Shor---A Flash back

Let’s start the day with 1972 film *”Shor”* it was written, edited, produced and directed by Manoj Kumar. He also was the lead actor in the film. 

It starred Jaya Bhaduri, Premnath and Nanda in a guest appearance in the film. 

Manoj Kumar won the Filmfare award for best editing. The film received nominations in the following categories: 

Best Director – Manoj Kumar
Best Supporting Actor – Prem Nath
Best Music Director – Laxmikant–Pyarelal
Best Lyricist – Santosh Anand for "Ek Pyaar Ka Nagma Hai"
Best Male Playback Singer – Mukesh for "Ek Pyaar Ka Nagma Hai"
'Best Story – Manoj Kumar

The idea to make SHOR came to Manoj Kumar while he was relaxing at his farmhouse in Delhi, after completing PURAB AUR PASCHIM. A few friends commented on how peaceful it was and that there was no ' shor' in the vicinity.

Sharmila Tagore was signed for Nanda's role , but opted out. 

Manoj Kumar approached Shatrughan Sinha for the Pathan’s role. But Shatrughan could not give bulk dates. 

Manoj Kumar attempted to sign Pran for the role of the pathan. But Pran was already signed for Zanjeer. He did not want to play the role of a pathan in 2 films. Eventually Prem Nath was signed.

Only movie to star the rising star Jaya Bhaduri opposite Manoj Kumar.

Manoj stated that the film had nothing to do with any problem in India. That is why his character was named Shankar and not Bharat. He did not want to misuse the name "Bharat".

Johnny Zee, aka Taz for Stereo Nation, did a cover version of the song "Ek Pyar Ka Nagma Hain". In the album Spirits Of Rhythm, released in 1994.

"Ever Since" song by Avi & The Supertones Band was a cover version of "Ek Pyar Ka Nagma Hain".

The opening refrain from Lata in "aaj kal paon zammen par" from Ghar(MD-RDB) is same as in "Ek pyaar ka nagma hain" (Lata/Mukesh) from Shor.
