Who broke the bow?

Dear Friends

Please read the following story and enjoy

Title of the Story: Who broke the bow?

Adapted from Osho’s stories

In a small classroom of a Government run school, teacher was

teaching  Sita Swayamvar  with interest

Teacher says lord Ram took the heavy bow kept in its box,

held the bow in his hand and broke it .

Suddenly, an inspector of schools who was observing the narration

standing in the corridor entered the class room.

Before the teacher could understand that his class room

teaching being observed by a Government official, the inspector

asked  the class, “Who broke the bow?”

One of thievery meekly looking boy stood up from the center row and told

“Respected Sir, I was out of town all these days. So I did not break it”.

The astonished inspector turned to the teacher who was lifting the

cane to hit the boy. He told the inspector, “ Sir don’t believe his talks..

He must have only broken it” Then turned towards the boy and yelled,

“If you haven’t broken the bow why did you get up to tell me

that you did not break?”

The inspector left the class room furiously. He rushed to the

Headmaster's office and narrated the whole incident.

Headmaster as an efficient and able administrator, listened to the

narration and said, “ Let us drop the matter.

Nowadays students are restless. I don’t want to create any

trouble for the school. If  we say something students are

damaging benches, desks etc.”

The inspector was flabbergasted; he was completely stunned.

He went to the chairman of the school committee and told him

all about what had happened.

The chairman said he felt the headmaster had been

wise in his policy. “Furthermore,” he added, “don’t bother about the

culprit. No matter who broke the bow, the committee will get it

repaired. It is better to get it repaired than to dig into the cause.”

The inspector was so disgusted went back to his office and started

writing his resignation letter.

Reflections: No one remembers Ram, Sita and the bow and its purpose.

Though the story is a story from the Great Epic Ramayana,

people are relating the matters of the story to their present life situations.

All the characters, the boy, the teacher, headmaster and the chairman

were only concerned about their problem and not willing to move

out of their life and think differently. Their minds are operating in a circle.

We have to keep our mind open to receive some new info.

We should expand our view to a wide angle view and analyse

the problems given to us we should conclude accordingly.

Kind Regards
